These guides are for adults in their first year of sewing. Maybe your machine is still in its box, or you have used it a few times and felt lost in the manual. If sewing words make your head spin and you would rather have calm, small wins than a big project that never gets finished, you are in the right place.
How each guide works
Every guide sticks to one beginner topic, so you never have to dig through unrelated subjects to find what you came for. The direct answer sits in the opening lines, and the explanation follows for when you want more.
Sewing words are explained the first time they appear. If a guide mentions seam allowance, it tells you right there that this is the strip of fabric between your stitching and the cut edge. Big 4 patterns use 5/8 in (1.5 cm) unless they say otherwise, while many small projects use 1/2 in (1.3 cm), so always check your pattern.
